As Executive Director of Glasgow Economic Leadership, Kevin provides policy advice and support to the Board, its six industry-led, key sector work streams and, in particular, its Chair, Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of the University of Strathclyde.
Kevin is a graduate of the University of Glasgow MA (Hons), University of Tennessee, Knoxville (USA) Master of Science (by Research) and an MBA of the University of Strathclyde with an academic background in Economics and Geography and principally urban and regional economics and analysis.
With 25+ years of professional experience in economic development at a city and national level in both Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Development Agency (SDA) Kevin has led both policy and operational teams in areas as diverse as urban and regional development, creative industries (incl. film) and industrial and cluster policy.
Kevin has extensive international experience, including with the OECD and EU. He is a joint author of the OECD report Berlin: Towards an Integrated Strategy for Social Cohesion and Economic Development (OECD, 2003) and was the principal commissioner of the OECD ‘Glasgow Urban Renaissance’ report (OECD, 2002). He was a key contributor to OECD’s ‘The role of local economic leadership in a global crisis’ (OECD, 2009).
In addition to his Glasgow Economic Leadership role, Kevin is Business Director of the International Public Policy Institute (IPPI) at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and Managing Editor of the leading publication on the Scottish economy, the Fraser Economic Commentary.
Kevin lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.
